The Sibenik Card is not very well advertised! Even if you’re visiting Sibenik, you may not know that the Sibenik Card exists at all! (I didn’t before I visited.) Sibenik (Šibenik), has been called by travel writers as the new Dubrovnik. I wonder whether that comparison is in part because the Sibenik Card is almost a carbon copy of the Dubrovnik Pass, down to its website!
Sibenik is definitely an up and coming cruise port. Local cruise lines that specialise in Croatian only cruises call on Sibenik regularly. But is the Sibenik Card worth it for cruisers who are stopping in Sibernik on a port day? I’ll cut to the chase. For adults, it may save you time but not much money. For families though, if the included attractions is where you’d like to go, then it can save you quite a bit! Read on to find out why!

What is the Sibenik Card and What Does It Include?

The Sibenik Card is an official city tourist card and is meant to be an all-in-one-ticket to the best of Sibenik’s historical attractions. Let me spill the beans now! The Sibenik Card is not intended for cruisers! (Probably because Sibenik gets relatively few cruisers.) The Sibenik card is marketed to those who’s in Sibenik for at least a few days, with time not just to see everything in Sibenik but also to head to Krka National Park.
However, anyone can buy it. The Sibenik card include free entry to:
- St Michael’s Fortress
- Barone Fortress
- St John’s Fortress
- St James Cathedral and the Interpretation Centre of St James Cathedral
- Sibenik City Museum
There’s 20% discount for Krka National Park, St Nicholas Fortress and the Visitor Centre St Anthony’s Channel. There’s also a 30% discount on the Aquarium but it’s currently closed, plus some miscellaneous discounts on restaurants and souvenir shops in Sibenik.
Refer to my main Sibenik Guide here for details on the included attractions.
Sibenik Card: How Much Is It? (2024 Prices)
There’s three versions of the card and all cards are valid for 7 consecutive days once it’s been activated on first use. You can buy it in advance and only activate it when you start to use it in Sibenik. The three cards are:
- Adults: €17 – there’s no discount for students or seniors
- Adults with 3 day bus pass: €27 but cruisers won’t use the 3-day bus pass
- Families: €39 for two adults and as many kids under 18 as you have with you!
Sibenik Card: Is It Worth It for Cruisers?
The short story is: if you intend to go to all 5 included attractions, then it’s worth it. If not, buying the Sibenik card may save you some time (as you don’t need to queue to buy individual tickets) but it won’t save you any money. Here’s why:
For adult singles, couples and adults only groups, a combined ticket to the three Fortresses is €13, entry to St James Cathedral and the interpretation centre is €5 and the Sibenik City Museum is €5. If you don’t make it to the Sibenik City Museum, you’re just breaking even!
Similarly for families, a family ticket to the three Fortresses is €29 and a family ticket to Sibenik City Museum cost €6. There’s no family tickets on sale at St James Cathedral with adult tickets at €5 and kids at €2. If you’ve got one or more kid(s) over 7 and want to see all 5 attractions, then the Sibenik Card is worth buying. (Note kids under 7 don’t pay for their tickets if accompanied by an adult.)
Note: Sibenik City Museum is closed on Sundays. So the Sibenik Card is definitely not worth it, if your ship is docking at Sibenik on a Sunday!
Planning Your DIY Port Excursion Itinerary
You’re probably wondering whether you’ll feel rushed going to 5 attractions on the same day. Perhaps but as the attractions are relatively close together, if you think you’ll have the energy to do the walks between the fortresses, then you can easily see all 5 included attractions if you want to.
If you’d like to go to St Nicholas Fortress as well – the sea fortress approximately 30 minutes boat ride away – then you may feel rushed. The organised boat trips to St Nicholas are at set times (and there’s no other way to get there), so you may find yourself being in one fortress and having to walk down the hill for your boat trip and then have to walk back up the hill again after your boat trip.

The Sibenik Card is not designed for cruisers as a one-day pass but it could be useful in some circumstances when you want to see all the main attractions in Sibenik on your port day. I didn’t find out about the Sibenik card before my trip, because it hasn’t been marketed widely. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line. I’ll respond if I know the answer! Enjoy your Croatian cruise!
